Michael McMullen, in his book The Blessing of God: Previously Unpublished Sermons of Jonathan Edwards, has compiled a series of twenty-two sermons by Jonathan Edwards taken from the archives of the Edwards Papers, a collection of sermons and writings of Edwards located in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale s: 5. Not only does God say you will receive these blessings if you obey Him, but He says they will “overtake you” (v. 2). In other words, instead of you having to chase God’s blessings, they will chase YOU! The Corinthians did not respond with worldly sorrow. They walked out godly sorrow, which they demonstrated by moving from an ongoing self-centered lifestyle to a gospel-centered way of thinking and living.
What Is Godly Sorrow. Turning from something that is bad, while switching to something that is good is the essence of repentance. It is God’s way. The Book of Blessings, compiled by my spiritual son, Scott Osborne, is a book to include in your spiritual arsenal – a book to use to bless others and to receive blessing.
This book stands unique among the volumes that have been written about blessings because it. As a Christian, you have access to THE BLESSING, God’s provision and favor. According to Deuteron “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on.
A real apology, which only comes from a person that is truly sorry, is a request for mercy and forgiveness. It is like the Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), which cannot be artificially added on from the outside, but flows out from a pure heart.
A real, genuine, sincere apology is a blessing. THE BLESSING of The LORD is God’s original plan for you. Contrary to popular belief, He doesn’t want you sick, broke and lonely. He wants to make you rich in every area of life—your health, finances, relationships and more/5(34).

Now Paul is speaking of a godly sorrow here that leads to repentance leading to Salvation. It is the same Godly Sorrow that will guide us in our ongoing sanctification.

Blessings is a title that holds a great deal of meaning for this book, as the name of the Blessings’ house, but also in the metaphysical sense of the reading the book, what did the title Blessings suggest to you.
